Fantastic Voayage: Making Of

Image
I started the project by identifying firstly what is an audience and why is it important. What Is An Audience? To begin, I want to firstly understand what an audience is. An audience is a collected group of individuals who consume any type of media. They are the people the product appeals to and are the ones who will purchase it. If there was no audience, companies would have no one to sell to and so there would be no profit. Companies must learn to adapt with the times, meaning they must always put the audience's needs first in order to have a successful product. An example of this is news papers. With the rise of technology, news paper companies have had to find a way to digitize their paper in order to keep up with their audiences needs. You no loner have to travel all the way to a shop and pay for a physical newspaper and can instead access it form any device through the internet. To further capitalize upon this many if not all news companies have their own, easy to use app, ...

Fantastic Voyage: Final Animation Production And Reflection

Image
I started animating and rendering the animation on Wednesday 12th of May, giving me 7 full days to work on the final animation. I had improved upon the scenes I had problems with in the pre-vis and had also rigged and skinned both characters.  I had never rendered a sequence before and so was eager to get my first scene done in order to see how long it took. My first scene was the Ghost in the sky and was 300 frames long. The scene continued only the main character and a matte painting of the sky and so rendered in about 40 minutes.  I used a directional light for this scene, which I would continue to do for the duration of the animation. I also set the render setting to Arnold, changing the diffuse, specular, transmission, SSS and volume indirect, to 0. I did this for every scene to come as I wasn't using those settings and it improved the time of the render by a large amount. When testing out the settings, I found if they were all on max, it would take 15 minutes per f...

Fantastic Voyage: Creating The voiceover And Script

Image
Below is the script I wrote for the narrator of the animation Ghost The Host. It explains evolution in a way which is understandable for a student studying at a KS1 level.  Once the script had been made, I went into Audition and recorded the lines. From my research on BBC Bitesize, I learnt that it is important to give your characters a distinct voice, which sometimes sounds strange. This helps to maintain the audiences attention and makes the character sound less boring when talking about education. I made my voice high pitch to reflect this idea.

Fantastic Voyage: Making The Rig For The Ghost

Image
Today I made the rig for Ghost The Host. I have some experience making rigs from the toolkit 1 tutorial, where I made a rig for a human. The ghosts top half is the same as a human and so I re-watched the tutorial, making the appropriate changes to my rig.  The first time I made a rig I felt overwhelmed, especially when it came to using the connection editor. However now that I have had to use it a lot throughout this unit, I now feel a lot more confident. I am proud I was able to make a rig for one of my own characters.
