From Script To Screen: Second Attempt At The Storyboard

I realised after drawing my first storyboard how hard it is to convey so much infomation in only 2 minuets. I decided to refer back to the how to structure a story slide from the beginning of the unit

(Act 1)   Begining          Capture the attention        Introduce problem

(Act 2) Middle               Provide tension                Present obstacle

(Act 3) End                    Provide closure                Resolve Problem

At the most I have 40 seconds for each section. I previously counted the time for each slide in the storyboard and got 112 seconds. This allows 8 seconds of correction as well as the additional 15 seconds your allowed to go over by. Although its a rough guess it still shows its possible to fit my entire story into the section.

I still do not feel the story is told in the best way however. I feel like I should alter the magicians act so that it feels like the progression to the real world happens more naturally. I can do this by adding in more details throughout the performance which suggest its not real.

I also want to incorporate the briefcase more into the performance

I want to keep the curtain opening. I think its a nice transition which prepares the audience. I also like the idea of him appearing in smoke. This is a cliché appearance for a magician and so I want the audience to feel like they know what's about to happen. This will cause the eventual twist to hit harder.

I also like the fact that he throws the dove over the crowd at the beginning. This allows the viewer to see the audience to help them understand the surroundings.

This time I want him to appear with the briefcase. He's going to incorporate it into his routine by pulling out a table which wouldn't normally fit in it. He is going to hold it by the table cloth and is going to perform his levitation trick. He is going to start spinning and eventually drop the table but keep floating.

Now that I have incorporated the briefcase more, I know need to include the audience. While he is levitating the camera could go behind him and show some of the audience members strangely.

Maybe there could be less people in the crowd. The audiences clothes could change.
