Major Project: Exploring Ideas For Finalized Textures Of Cyberpunk Character

Today I wanted to explore different looks for my Cyberpunk character. I firstly started by putting the rest of the textures on using the material I thought would best fit the character, matching the placement of the materials as best to the reference drawing as I could. I found that the overall character works very well, however I feel some materials need tweaking to fit the theme of the character, such as the legs. I also want to add wear to the original version of the character to emphasis that it is made from metal and is used in combat. I will create an additional model which will be further worn after to show the effects the battle has had on the character.

I decided to add a more metallic material to the leg and arms as I felt the colours looked two flat on the previous version. I chose a material which has the ability to add dirt which I feel would be a good starting point to show the age of the characters armour. However it is only dirt at the beginning and the actual wear will be added once the fighting begins. I also used the glowing material on the eye which I made in Minor.

I decided to try the character out in more suitable lighting and found that I liked how the metals interacted with the light.

I took this idea a step forward by making the main bones in the suit neon as well. although this was a good idea I do not feel it adds much to the character and makes the character come across more cartoony. I feel like the chest piece does not look that bad however seems out of place glowing on its own, so I added in that arms which turned out to be too much. I think If I wanted this to work I would have to integrate a glowing effect throughout the outfit. I don't think this is necessary however as I like how the original version looked.
