Major Project: Rendering Progress 4
Today I continued rendering the scenes in order of my animation.
This is one of my favourite shots I have made so far. I used the bridge in order to create leading lines, directing the audiences eyes towards the character, who is framed in the centre by the bridge supports. In order to emphasis this, I then used a spotlight to highlight the character in the scene. I feel once again that the minimal background helps to create the contrast against the focus of the shot and the environment. I originally wanted to add in beams of light in the background to represent the cyberpunk world, however I felt like this ruined the mood of the shot. I like the idea that the character is praying before battle and the spotlight could represent him being blessed by the heavens.
I also like how the light bounces off of the bridges wood in this shot. I am glad I spent the time using M.A.S.H to create the chain-links as I feel they are a really effective detail.
I placed the camera in an position which would allow the chains to again guide the audiences eyes to the Samurai. However I wanted to do this in a way that was different so that the shots would not get repetitive. I there placed in camera in a sort of off position to create the effect I wanted in a different way.
The idea of the Cyberpunk character slowly approaching is to build up anticipation for the fight. Up until this point the only thing seen of the character was its legs. This is the first clear shot the audience gets of the character while still hiding what its face looks like. It was important that the lighting fit this theme.
I like this shot as it follows my drawing very closely. I added in the moon in order to define the character against the black background. I was initially going to change the background as I thought it would be too high poly to render, however it surprisingly renders really quickly. This is probably due to the high poly objects being static, however made me reconsider what was able to be rendered within a scene.
